We are here to connect you with others in the food industry

The Pennsylvania Association for Food Protection (Formerly PAMFES) is an affiliate of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), whose mission is to advance food safety worldwide. PAFP and its predecessor organizations had its historic beginnings in 1939.

The Association was very instrumental in supporting the dairy industry in Pennsylvania. At a December 1978 meeting in Harrisburg, the standards and regulations for manufacturing grade milk was being formed and debated. These discussions led eventually to the Manufacturing Grade Milk Standards with the Department of Agriculture. In 1998 a Liaison Committee of PAFP was formed to address the uniformity and interpretive process of existing or new rules and regulations in the dairy industry, specifically with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Since the its beginning, we have been working to keep the industry and those that work within it as up to date as possible. One of the ways that we aim to do that today, is to begin expanding to other industries in Pennsylvania. We want to be able to help more food manufacturers across the state. To do that we need to hear from you! So please reach out to let us know what you want to see and what information that you want to know. We’re here to support the industries across PA.   • NCIMS Update - Appendix T Audits

    On July 22nd a notice went out to a group of NCIMS contacts for an update that is in effect from July 31st 2022 and on. This will effect the Appendix T audits performed by Milk Specialists in IMS-listed facilities in Pennsylvania and other states.

  • Dairy Crisis Drill Training

    Please join us for this unique skill building opportunity as the American Dairy Association North East and the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy bring their dairy industry readiness training and mock food safety drill to Penn State Extension on May 11 & 12, immediately following the Pennsylvania Association for Food Protection (PAFP, formerly PAMFES) meeting at the Penn Stater in State College.

Our Annual Conference

In the spring each year, the Program Planning and Executive Committees put together a 2.5 day conference, designed to update those in the industry on any updates in regulations and trends. Typically, we hold the conference the first or second week in May, and always after the NCIMS conference in the years the meting is held. We hope to have you join us!
