Industry Resources - PA Weigher/Sampler Certifications

One of the added benefits that we are working towards adding to this site is a place for the industry to access resources necessary to them. We will continue to work on that in the coming weeks but in the meantime we wanted to highlight the weigher/sampler certification process.

In reviewing with the PDA they wanted us to highlight a few things about the process.

  1. Weigher/Sampler certification program can be found on the Dairy and Dairy Product Manufacturing Page.

  2. Individuals who perform in-field sampling of raw milk for pasteurization from bulk tanks, silos, and/or direct load systems shall obtain and maintain field certification of the sampling procedures.  The BFSLS issues this certification based on standards found in Appendix B of the latest version of the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance

    1. To become certified for this, individuals must fill out the Milk Sampler Certification Application. Once completed it will be sent to the point of contact at the bottom of the Dairy and Dairy Product Manufacturing page is the PDA Regional Weigher Sampler Contact Map.

  3. If you have already been certified or have an individual that you may need to verify the certification for there is also a list of Weigher Sampler Certifications on the PDA website. The website is being updated by the PDA, quarterly, similar to what was done by the PMMB in the past.

NOTE: The program established by the PDA is in conjunction with obtaining a Weigher/Sampler license through the PA Milk Marketing Board. As of March 20th you should have received an update from the PMMB on the new certification process for online applications for the 2023-2024 year. For more information on that. Please check for that post as well.
